Sarcophagus with Staurograms

On the left a man in a tall hat and short tunic pulls fish from a river while a deer (?) sits on the bank. Could this be a reference to the apostles as fishers of men? On the right another man in a pannonian cap holds something like a scythe and gestures to a smaller figure on the right. An inscription on the lid, partly visible in this shot, prays that Death bring them prosperity.

This is the left end and part of the back, showing the two staurogram inscriptions. The one on the back has the staurogram alone; on the left end it is joined by the alpha and omega and two birds. Usually birds symbolize the soul.
